My ancestor WILLIAM CALDER was born on 31/3/1784 in the Edinkillie parish of Morayshire in the North East of Scotland. The IGI gives his parents as William Calder and Margaret Shaw. Unfortunately it does not record a marriage between them. Can anyone shed any light on where and when the marriage took place and the dates an places of birth of William and Margaret?
There is a William Calder born 17/11/1754 in the Edinkillie parish and a Margaret Shaw born 2/3/1759 also in the Edinkillie parish. It seems possible that these could be the parents with a marriage sometime after 1780 (i.e. when William was 26 and Margaret was 21). Again, can anyone confirm or refute this suggestion?
