I am looking for information on my ancestor Stair Agnew Calder, who was born in Whitburn West Lothian on 23.7.1766. He married Jean Thomson in 1798 in Edinburgh, and had a son Charles b 12.9.1800. Stair was a butler, but I do not know where. The name is very unusual and I wonder if he was named after Sir Stair Agnew of Lochnaw? Perhaps his father or mother worked at Lochnaw?
