Am trying to find more information on Alex Calder of Marlboro County, SC. He was married to Kitti Norton. His son (my grandfather) was Bishop Marvin Caulder - notice the change in spelling. Bishop Marvin married Alice Brock and had 3 children: Pearl who never married; Marvin who was killed in WWII; and my father Shelton Caulder now deceased. When my father applied for social security he found out his surname was spelled CALDER on his birth certificate. Have never been able to find out why the name change. Most of the family was from around Marlboro County SC or Scotland County NC. Any one with info or sources of info will be greatly appreciated.
