Deborah,

You are correct when you say Alexander Calder came to the US in the 1700's. My family connection is through his son James Calder. James' daughter Elizabeth Jane Calder is my Great, Great Grandmother (GGGm). Although I have additional information, it is packed away at this time. I will keep your e-mail address bookmarked, and will send you the information when I locate the box it is filed in.

Don't give up, for there will be happy days and sad days in researching your family. But someone somewhere will see your message and clue you in to your missing branches of your family tree. I have been working on the family lines of my husband for the last ten years and on my family for over 35 years, starting as a young wife and mother.

Just recently, I received information on my husband's father's side (PATE). It included the names of his ggg grandfather to his ggggg grandfather. It was one of the best days I have had in a long time. We still have to do the research documentation (places, dates, etc.) but at least now we have the names to go on. Good hunting. Pat Pate
