For a while Eli Marion lived near Dr. John S. Riley, in Burleson Co., Texas. One of his grandsons through son Wm. H. was named Riley Calcote for Dr. Riley.
Eli Marion Calcote was a clerk in the store of Charles Oakes in 1860. Eli M. Calcote was in home of his father in 1850. In the 1860 census of Rapids Ph., LA Eli M Calcote was 28 yrs., born in Mississippi and was running a store or was a merchant, his wife Adeline was 21, this is his first wife. A child Joeseph was 2 yrs. Eli M does not show up in the 1870 census and was probably in Texas. Joseph Ragan no doubt returned to LA, and married Katherine Lou Gill.
