I am from a line of Cains famuly in Scotland my great great grandfather was John Cains married to Ann Mcnab around 1800, I am really at a loss to trace this couple, but I do know that John was in the army. They appeared to be the only Cains in Scotland at that time as it is not a Scottish name. I do not know if John originally came from Ireland or England, the name Cains in Scotland is all about gone the only ones there are related to me, but it is only a few. I have been trying for years to find out more about the paternal side of my family the maternal side has been much easier, as one line was from the Isle of Man I would appreciate any info regarding this.
