I am trying to find the name of John Edward "Jack" Travers [my great-grandfathers] father. His daughter, my grandmother was Elsie May Travers 1899-1981.

John was born in Maryland Sept 1870. This was in the 1900 census. All 4 of the children's birth certificate's say that John was born in Maryland.

He lived in Wilmington around the turn of the century and worked for W & N Railroad.

He was married to Amanda Darling, daughter of Asa Darling and Anna (Nancy) Wheatley, around 1897 in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.

He disappeared after 1908 when all 4 of the Traver's children were put into an orphanage in Wilmington.
They were:
John Edward b. 2/1898 d. 1938
Elsie May b.1/11/1900 d. 1981
Willard John b. 8/14/1902 d. 1983
Elmer C. b. 11/23/1903 d. 1992

The orphanage released John but not to a family.

Willard was the foster son of Thomas J & Mattie Cain in Wilmington, De.

Elmer C. was adopted by a family from Maryland: Dodd
Nothing more is known.

Elsie was released to her mother who married again to George Albert Baylor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
