Hi Larry, I wish you well in your search. The Kentucky branch of my family came through Virginia, although earlier than your dates. Might I suggest a DNA test? If you look at the Cain DNA project at www.familytreedna.com/public/Cain-Caine you will see Cains with Irish Gaelic, Manx Viking, British-Irish pre-Celtic, German, Roman and Jewish DNA types through the male lineage. Any of the above could of course, through intermixture, disguise African-American bloodlines. Perhaps a combined Y-DNA (male lineage) and mrDNA (female lineage) test will turn up genetic cousins.
