I see lots of posts about Richard Abner Cain. Most assume that he is the brother of William Jr and Abel Cain. These two boys are definitely the sons of William Sr Cain of Richmond County Georgia. Also, most who have traced this family also note that there are two other boys in this family namely, Michael and Allen. While I agree that William Jr., Abel, Michael and Allen are brothers I can not agree that Richard is another brother. William Jr and Abel are older and almost all show the other three boys, Michael, Allen and Richard as born between 1800-1806 The problem with this scenario is that William Sr, only has two boys that age in the 1820 Census. Not three.
However, Polly Cain, the widow of Abel Cain, has one boy that age in her house. It seems to me that the logical conclusion is that this is one of the three younger boys. And because all of the rest move to Dooly county and only Richard goes to Bibb county it would appear that he is the likely boy who is in the Polly Cain household.
Polly Cain is the widow of Abel Cain. Not the Abel who is William Sr.'s son but Abel who is probably his brother.
Can someone provide any proof whatsoever that Richard Abner is Williams son? Otherwise the records send me to a different conclusion.
Also, There is a marriage for Aaron Davis and Peggy Cain in Richmond County. An Aaron Davis also moves to the Dooly county area. Later, after Aaron has died, Margaret Davis appears as a head of house. Peggy being a nickname for Margaret it appears that this is a daughter of William, Sr.
I see no references to her on any posts.
Any help, comments. etc. Email me direct [email protected] or post here. I have more.
Thanks.
Joe
