II.Isham Cain of Sussex County received from his father James Cain, Sr., on 7 June 1762 a tract of 165 acres of land in that county on the north side of Nottoway River (Ibid, Deed Book B, p. 420).He married Martha Burrow, who was the granddaughter of John Burrow of Dinwiddie Co, VA.
On 11 May 1764 John Burrow gave to his daughter (sic...should be granddaughter), Martha (Burrow) Cain a deed of property in the form of a Negro slave (Sussex Co, VA, Deed Book C, p. 97).Isham and Martha Cain had the following children:(Gertrude R. B. Richards, ed.,m Register of Albemarle Parish...1739-1778 (Richmond,k 1958), pp. 225, 33, 142, 227, 302, 152, 156):
1.Rebecca Cain, born 20 Apr 1759; godparents, Jarrell burrow, Tabitha Burrow and Angelica Cain.
2.George Cain, born 24 March 1761; godparents, George Robertson, Philip Burrow and Kesiah Cain.
3.John Cain, born 6 Apr 1765; godparents, Peter Cain, Wm. Burrow and Martha Cain.
4.Ruffin Cain, born 17 April 1763; godparents, Seymour Robertson, Thomas Wade and Mary Abernathy.
5.Susanna Cain, born 15 Sept. 1769; godparents, Micajah Cain, Olive Randall and Any Woodward.
6. Jordan Cain, born 30 Sept. 1771; godparetns, Wm. Cain, John Walker and Rebecca Roberts.
7. Isam Cain, born 14 May 1775; godparents, Lovel Harrison, Jesse Smith and Martha Powell.

Isham Cain was listed in the Sussex County census of 1782 as head of household of eight white and four black people. (Heads of Families at the First Census...1790...Virginia (Wasington, 1908), p.44).He wrote his last will and testament 14 Jan 1783 and it was probated 21 Apr 1785 (Sussex Co, Va, Will Book D, p. 324).
Thomas Cain, son of Isham and Martha (Burrow) Cain, was born 8 Jan. 1768 in Sussex Co., VA (Cain Family Bible).He married Mary Malone 17 Oct 1799 in Sussex County.Stith Parham was the officiating minister and William Malone, brother of the bride, was security on the bond and served as witness. (Sussex Co., VA, Marriage Bond Book C, p. 273).Mary Malone was one of the daughters of Daniel and Amey (Chappell) Malone.She was born 18 Oct. 1777 in Sussex County. (Malone Family Bible).
Thomas Cain wrote his last will 2 Nov 1802 and it was proved to Limestone Co., Ala., between 1818 and 1822 with their son Allison Chappell Cain who was born 16 Sept. 1800 in Sussex Co. (Cain Family Bible).
