Hi Gary,
This Ed Cain that I received the civil war records from show him to be from Iola area of Kansas.I looked through his pension records and it shows that he was married twice...once to a Sarah Elizabeth Warden in Troy Ohio, and to Martha Wright. He has 3 children listed: Minnie Gregg, Charles Cain and Sarah Cain. From what I can tell he was born somewhere in Ohio. He lists his occupation as farmer. I also think that he may have been colored, but not sure. On one page it lists skin color as black, and then another page it list it as fair. Does any of this click with you?
The Ed Cain that I am looking for was from Marshall County Kansas and was married to a Johanna Fitzgerald. He was born in Ireland, but that is all we know about him. We've been trying to find out where in Ireland he was born, and if he had any siblings, etc.No luck so far.We know more about his wife's family then we know of him.
Anyway, I have these civil war records that aren't doing me any good.Just would like to pass them on to someone they may help.
