Hi Scott:
I don't have any information on Gr.Grandpas siblings, or his parents. It's been hard to find them.I have found things on my grandfather spelled CAIN, CAINE, CANE, and KANE.
I have a copy of his marriage license when he married grgrandma Emma in 1872, and a copy of their divorce when she divorced him in 1902, almost 30 yrs. later.I don't think he could write because he put his mark "X" as his signature.
His obit. said he'd had asthma to the extent he could barely do more than get around.
I have always been told the Cains were Irish.
Also that the name use to be either O'Cain or McCain, and after a disagreement between two brothers, the name was split.Have you all ever heard that?I met my dads cousin in Columbus, Ks- -he's probably in his late 70s - - anyway, he said it happened when they "came over on the boat".I don't know.
If I find anything more, I'll let you know.
