Who's dad is William Cahoon's of Scotland?

Im more confused than ever. While trying to research my family line for the Cahoon, Colquhoun, I find many conflicting sources.

My line goes Christina Cahoon Wife of Ephraim Powers, Daugter of William Cahoon 1728 and Ann ? (they had seven children but I only have Christina), of Gum Neck Tyrrell Co Nc, son of Robert Cahoon and Margaret ?, son of Samuel Cahoon and Mary ? of Gum Neck, birth 1663, son of William Cahoon Sr and Delieverance Peck, From Scotland immigrated to taunton Ma.

Here is where it gets dicey. Some sites has William as son of John, and others have him son of Alexander

and from there...It's all over the place. Can anyone help me straighten this out?
