Hello Daniel, I noted your message on genforum which mentioned Hamblin.

In our Stillinger family hsitroy we have a William Hamblin Cahoon, 1880 - 1960. His mother was susposedly a Hamblin, but we have no proof of this.

This William hamblin Cahoon was an electrical engineer, and also a professional genealogist. He was lsited in the Who's who of genealogists and researched many families he was connected with ancestrally.
His research covered many years from probably efore 1920 to his death in 1960.
Mr Cahoon had married a Bertha Henderson, a daughter of Catherine Stillinger and H.H. Henderson, and therefore had researched our Stillinger familiesalso.

I have recovered several old leters of Cahoon's from the 1920's to 1950, that he had written to various family menbers in his research.
We have also found he had spent a lot of money hiring genealogists in Europe to find ancestral information.

In the 1970's, when I began my genealogy endeavor, I attempted to locate Mr Cahoon and had found he had died in 1960, in Knoxville, Tennesee.
Eventually I the found his widow, Bertha Henderson Cahoon, living in a retirement center in Los Angeles, CA.

In 1976, I spoke with Bertha on the phone in Los Angeles. Bertha was 90 years old at that time and in poor health.
Bertha told me William had a tremendous amount of genealogy informations that he had researched for decades. He was making plans to have all his works published at the time of his death.

When he died, his son-inlaw and daughter then commenced to attempt to have the genealogies published.-, However his son-in-law died shortly after and this was never done.

Bertha then went on to tell me that the genealogy records were then stored (1976) in the attic of the house they had lived in Knoxville, TN, which she still owned. Bertha then offered to help in the retrievel of the reocrds from Tennesee. Bertha then died shortly after, and her daughter Winnifred died a few weeks later., and all contact was lost in regards to the family.

I have made several attempts to try and locate the records over the past years. i have checked with genealogy societies, libraries, archives, family genealogists, etc etc. with no success.
A couple of years ago, a librarian and genealogist in Knoxville had made an concentrated effort to locate the old records, but once again with no success.

In regard to Hamblin I have not further information, other than Williams mother is believed to have been a Hamblin.

I am not sure, but believe William Hamblin Cahoon came from Massachusets. He became a prominent Electrical Engineer and worked on many Government projects, and because of this had lived in Chicago, Washington State, new York City, and finally Knoxville, TN where he was involved on the TVA dam project.
He met with his future wife Bartha henderson while he was in Spokane Washington area.

I have never been able to connect with a Cahoon researcher, or a henderson researcher who had any information on the families.
