Fred, I have a Steven Cohoon, son of Joseph (b c1760) and Nancy (Parr) Cohoon, but only have an estimate on his birth year, and no other info about him. Definately born in N Y, near West Point, Orange County (Haverstraw?). The family moved to the Syracuse area in the early 1800s. Several of the sons moved to Michigan, but Steven wasnt one of them.
This information came from my husbands grandmothers journal,
her name was Georgia Cohoon, she was d/o Morris, who was s/o *Charles, b 1793 (Charles would have been a brother of Stephen) CHAS m Lavina Perrine they had 11 children). Other brothers were DAVID (c1783)m Roxanne from Conn and they had John, Emmaline, Matilda, David & Pomeria; THOMAS (c1785),no info on Thomas; WILLIAM (1791-1868),I have no wifes name, but he had 4 children, Danny, Seldine, Thomas and Albert; JOHN (1794)m Margaret widow of Eseck Tabor, and they had Frank & John; SAMUEL(c1804) m Nancy Johnson Tabor, sister of Eseck Tabor, they had Minerva, Angeline, William, David and George; HENRY we show no wife, but have 3 children, Emma Jane, Abbie and Amelia or Amdelia?; JAMES (b1800) m Jane Ann Sloan, l in Plymouth Mich and had at least 6 ch, Alice, Albert, Florence, Flora(twins) Robert & Cora; LIDICK (b1802) m Martha Pickard in Ny, He d 1888 in Mich.
I know this is not in order, I am sorry for that, but am hoping some of this will sound familiar to you, and you can let me know if we have the same family here.
