This information may not help Mrs.Barbra Efraimson,but possibly other's are interested.

In a query of "OLD WEST,"magazine.(Spring 1974)
Mrs.Barbra Efraimson,was asking the following:
Seeking information about my g.g.grandfather,Mark Cahoon,born 11-16-1810 in Virginia. My g.grandfather
Marcus C.Cahoon b.8-29-1849 Benton Co.,Oregon,later moving to Ellensburg,Washington. My grandfather,Elmer
Marcus Cahoon b.6-22-1884 in Kittitas Co.,Washington. Especially interested in Mark Cahoon and his possible birthplace in Virginia. END OF QUERY.

Mark Cahoon,took out a Donation Land Claim,in Oregon.
He gave the following information when he filled out the land papers:

Mark Cahoon b.1808 Rockbridge Co.,Va.,married ANN..?..
11-15-1835 LaGrange Co.,Indiana. Secured land claim #2760 in Benton Co.,Oregon,5-1-1849. Wife died 5-13-1851 on claim,leaving 7 children...6 living in 1853. Janet FORD and Adaline PYBURN are daughters of
Mark and Ann Cahoon. Robert FORD's wife,d/o Cahoon's purchased most of the other children's share in their mother's part of claim.

NOTE: Indiana marriage record's say he married:ANN MODINE 11-12-1835 LaGrange Co.,Indiana.

George W.PYBURN b.1829/30 Miller Co.,Missouri. States he arrived in Oregon "about" 10-20-1847; secured donation land claim #1188 in Polk Co.,Oregon on 9-15-1851; m.Adeline J. 11-20-1851 Polk Co.,Oregon.
Aff:Amen Pyburn,Elijah Pyburn,Francis M.Pyburn.
Land located: T9S R4W sec's 28,29,32,33...640 acres.
NOTE: George W. Pyburn,s/o Amos and Rachel Pyburn.

Rachel 46 S.Car.
George W. 20 Mo.
Thomas M. 20 Mo.
Delilah 14 Mo.

NOTE:Mr.Pyburn's name could be Amos / Amen or Amon,have found it spelled all ways. Spelled: Amon,on his land claim.
He was b.1802 Buncombe Co.,North Carolina, died by Feb.1876;married Rachel 12-25-1823 Overton Co.,Tenn.,
she died "about" 1859. Their land claim was #4773 in
Polk Co.,Oregon.
