Apparently during the Revolutionary War, captured American prisoners were sometimes held on ships that were in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. On a list of prisoners of the Revolution after 1780, two Cahoons are listed as being held on the "Old Jersey". They are John Cahoon and Jonathan Cahoone.
