Hello David, I am a member of a large pioneer group family reunion that includes descendants of Leonard Cagle and his wife Elizabeth Smith, dau of Drury/Drewry Smith and Sarah Motley of Tn who migrated to Lawrence County, Mo in mid 1840's. They had 8 sons and 2 daughters who intermarried with the area families and thus intermarriages of generations took place between a special group of 12 surnames. Lawrence County Marriages 1845-1874 has: David Cagle-Barthena Schooling, 20 July 1865, pg 304, d/o Jos. Schooling established SCHOOLING Cemetery, Lawrence Co. Mo. (One of their daughters married a Wormington) Edwin Cagle - Mis Mary Orr, 10 Sept 1845, Jas B Logan, p 4 Henry Cagle - Martha HEWLETT, d/o Samuel Moseley Hewlett who helped organized Lawrence County in May 1845. Martha's step mother was Abigail Smith, sister to Elizabeth Smith Cagle who was also Martha's Hewlett's Mother in Law! Leonard Cagle - Hannah J Youngblood, 13 May 1866, by H Johnson, JP, pg 341 Leonard and Elizabeth Smith Cagle later migrated from Lawrence County and settled north of Carthage, Jasper Co. MO. He died in 1854 and she died in 1866. Both have Wills on file in Jasper County, at Carthage Court House. The house Elizabeth lived in at the time of her death is now known as the Old Kellog house and still stands today. The Cagle Reunion on the 3d Sunday September weekend is located in Monett City Park as a group reunion that celebrates their family ties and pioneer history. The Reunion will celebrate its 74th Reunion this year and Diamond Jubilee/75th Year Reunion next year in Monett.
