Because there were several Jacob Cagles, the information about which one was married to Lucy Darrow (sometimes spelled Darrough) has gotten muddled. Jacob Cagle and Lucy Darrow were married in Davidson Co TN in 1826. This Jacob was born about 1870 and died in 1836 in Jasper Co MO (then part of Barry Co) Jacob had been married before and he and his 1st wife had 4 sons and 4 daughters. Jacob and Lucy had the following children:
Elijah, b. 1827; Matthew James Jackson, b. 1829; Robert L C, b. 1832; and Margaret, b. shortly after her father's death. Lucy returned to Dickson Co TN where she married in 1841 Elida Burns (wedding performed by her father Rev. Benj. Darrow, as was Elida's to his 1st wife, who's family were neighbors of the Darrows), a widower with 2 small sons. They signed a prenuptual agreement the day before they married to protect the rights of Lucy's sons to the property their father left their mother. Lucy and Elida had 3 sons together: twins William Fletcher and John W Burns and Adam D Burns. Elida Burns died between 1850 and 1860 and Lucy died between 1865 and 1870 in Massic Co Illinois.
Sources include: Marriage records for Davidson, Dickson, and Montgomery Counties in TN; Will of Jacob Cagle; prenuptual agreement between Elida Burns and Lucy Darrow Cagle; 1840 and 1860 census of Dickson Co TN,1850 census of Jasper Co MO; and other misc. records.
I'm not at my home computer, but I can give more specifics if you need them.
