Margery Cage was the daughter of John Cage (ca. 1620ís-1677), probably by his wife Ann (Hall?). John came to the New World from Portsmouth, England in November of 1636 as an indentured tobacco servant to Thomas Cornwallis and settled in that part of St. Maryís Co. MD which is now Charles Co. After the completion of his indenture, he owned at least two tracts of land: , "Caggeworth/Marshall", 150 a. (owned 1650-1654) and Mitchell's Platte", 300 a. (acquired 1658 and left to his sons), both in Charles Co. MD. Cage was a member of the MD court. He had children Margery (b. 1657/63); John (1655/64-1700); Elizabeth (ca. 1651-ca. 1725?); William (1655/76- by 1717); and Anne (b. 1660/76).

He m2. by 1676 Susannah (maiden name unknown) and died April, 1677. Susannah m2. 1680 Thomas Clipsham.

Margery Cage was probably the eldest child, born 1657/1663 and:

m1. by 1676 Robert Rowland; they had one daughter Dinah (1677-aft. 1724) who m. Richard Morris (d. 1719).

m2. ca. 1680 Humphrey Warren Jr. (d. 1695) and had by him: Benjamin (1682-1706); Charles (1684- by 1710); John (1686-by 1710); Humphrey III (1687-by 1710) and Abraham (ca. 1692-by 1694)

m3. ca. 1696 Thomas Burford Jr. (d. 1698)

It is known that she survived Burford, but probably died not long after that. There is no reason to suppose that she ever lived anywhere but Charles Co. MD. I have good number of descendants of Margery and her siblings, most down four or five generations. Let me know if I can help.

Charles C. Cage
