John and Ashlee Hope I can help you both a bit! First his name was NOT Poleman but rather Palemon and that may be "country spelling" for Philemon. Major William Cage *ca 1745 VA-1811 Sumner Co., TN) was married twice ; (1) Elizabeth Douglas and (2) Ann Morgan. Major Wm. Cage was the father of Wilson Cage (d. 1847 Sumner Co., TN). His wife was reportedly POLLY Dillard. I do not know her background but think that James Dillard of Revolutionary fame may be a good starting place. He was in VA and SC and many Dillards went on to TN and KY. Wilson Cage was the f/o Palemon Cage who married a Dillard as well. I know all this because I descend from PALEMON CAGE BUSH born 1805 in Sumner Co., TN. I have his BIBLE and other primary source evidence and it IS spelled PALEMON. HIs father DR. JOhn H. Bush was a friend of Wilson Cage. Both may ghave named their sons for Col. Philemon Waters of SC.. MY best advice - stop looking at Rootsweb and other internet sources for truth. Check primary sources in Sumner Co., TN. Good luck! Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
