Further information recently gleaned. Great-grandfather James Caffrey’s baptism is recorded in the parish registers of Stamullen, Co. Meath on 9 September, 1849. His parents were James Caffrey and Ann Reilly. They were married 07 January 1845, witnesses Pat Callaghan and Alice Mooney. Their first-born son was John Caffrey, baptized 29 December of that year.
Did this John Caffrey remain in Ireland or did he emigrate to the US? Family lore suggests that James and Ann may have done so. Ann Caffrey nee Reilly gave ‘America’ as her address on marriage.
