I don't think I can help but do have a question for you and am interested as my line does not have a Nicholas connection, either. You mentioned that Ezra homesteaded in MI but that albert (who's real name was Henry) hailed from NY. Did I misunderstand?
My line starts in CT in 1809, goes to NY and has kids there, then in WI, next MI and finally on to Oregon. I keep hoping when I hear of these states that we have in common that we may find a connection.
My oldest CADY has an unusual first name: Haziel (usually misspelled Hazel)and should be easy to trace. I keep wondering if he went by some other name... like your Albert.
