I saw your May 12 message on Harry Royal Cady: I am researching the Cady's on my wife's side of the family. They are not in any of the Cady geneology books I have found. The Cady's I am researching start in Rennselaer County, NY, town of Poestenkill, before 1820; moved to Kendall, NY (Orleans county) in 1852; some stayed in Kendall through at least 1915, others moved to Rochester, NY (Monroe County). I do not have my notes with me, but: A Royal Cady is listed with (his presumed wife) Hannah in the 1850 census, town of Poestenkill in Rennsellaer county, NY. Living next to them was Calvin Cady, his wife Catherine (I believe her maiden name was Pitcher), and their children. I am following Calvin, whom I believe is Royal and Hannah's son. Royal was born about 1780, and Hannah was born about 1790. they had 10 children living in their household in the 1840 census in __________ (I have no information on the names of the others in the household, but I think they may have included my Calvin, and possibly a possible brother Solomon). Hannah Cady is listed in the 1830 index. The book, history of Rennselaer county lists Royal and Solomon (probably brothers) as early settlers of Poestenkill (this probably puts them around 1813?), which was made from the town of Sandlake in 1848 I think. I have not been able to connect this Royal Cady with the Cady's in published geneologies, although I do believe there are spots were he could fit in; nor have I been able to acertain where he came from - the 1850 census says Royal was born in New York state. Don't trust my dates in this note - I am going from memory. If you are interested in more I can cut and paste my notes into another email. I would be interested if your line connects to this Royal - the name is very rare.
