The Cady families of Columbia County,NY have been difficult to follow. They started moving into Upstate NY around 1762 from New London and later more came from Windham,Co,CT. This was at the same time that other Cady families moved into Vermont (across the Connecticut River). In order to keep track, I've used their birth date. So Ebenezer(1743), son of Sgt John Ebenezer (1750) Ebenezer (1761)Son of Nehemiah Ebenezer Cady (1770) Desc unknwn Ebenezer J(1771)Son of Ebenezer(1743) Ebenezer J(1779)son of Elijah Ebenezer (1779)son of Sylvester Ebenezer (1784) Son of Elias Ebenezer P Jr(1785) son of Capt John Ebenezer (1797) Son of John Ebenezer (1807) son of Ebenezer (1771) Ebenezer S(1817) son of Arnold Several of these are first cousins, most are connected to Upstate New York. I found one family (Hough) who have mixed up Eben(1785) with Eben(1771). In the Census of 1800 for Canaan there are two Ebenezer Cady Jr's (pg 1 and pg 18). My Point - It is easy to get crossed up on Cady's in Upstate New York. Ebenezer (1743) and Ebenezer (1771) are listed in several family histories. Ebenezer (1743) is listed in Revolutionary War burials as being buried in the Babcock family plot in Surowiec Farm, Red Rock, Columbia CO NY. There is another Ebenezer at New Concord Cem, also in Columbia County,NY. (See Babcock family history) Notify Administrator about this message?
