Haziel and Hial Cady early 1800s New England

Jenny Starrett,
I have followed your posting for several years and, with the help of James Cady, I have made fair progress. But like most people searching their roots, I hit my wall.
I am writing because of your latest communication with James regarding Hial.
Your Hial and my Haziel (Hazael) have a lot in common, and it may be more than just a coincidence.

Haziel b 1809 and Lucetta b. 1811 both came from CT (although Haziel reported that he was born in R.I. in response to the census takers question on a couple of occasions). Haziel says his father and mother were both born in CT - but I don't know who they are.

Their first child (of 12) was Charles, b. 1823 in NY. followed by Watson, Benjamin and 5 others, all born in NY. Then, in about 1847, the whole family moved to Wisconsin. Haziel and Lucetta had the remaining 4 children there.

Charles stayed with Haziel for a very long, either living with his father, Haziel, or next door. So your comment about Charles visiting Hial in WI and then returning to NY really struck a cord.

My line is from the 5th child of Haziel and Lucetta and the 4th boy, Edwin Lewis Cady b. 1836 in NY, married to Betsy Cutland in Mauston, WI in 1855. He lived in MN, Kansas (briefly), MI and finally Oregon between 1875 and 1877.

Cousin(?) Jack Cady
Spokane, WA
