Paternity of Henry Clay Cady, b. 1852 Muscatine County, Iowa

Henry Clay Cady and his twin brother George W. Cady were born in Muscatine County, Iowa in 1852. Their father is believed to have died about the time the twins were born and was not married to the mother, Mary Margaret Sheeley. His name was Calvin Cady. Little is known about Calvin Cady and we are interested in additional information about him. We believe that he may have been a teamster who moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Chickasaw County, Iowa in the early 1850s. His widow, Nessy (May) Cady, lived in Chickasaw County with her children in 1860, 1870, and 1880, according to the U.S. Federal Censuses. Their children included: Eliza, Walter, Permelia, Ruby, and Frances. Any help you can provide about the family of Calvin Cady will be much appreciated. Another possibility is Calvin Cady, also a teamster, who had settled at Des Moines, Iowa in the early 1850s. He died during the Civil War time period and left a widow named Elizabeth and children Olive, Demaris, and La Henry.
