There is a Charles Lewis Cady who figures rather importantly in California history. He built the second house in Sutter's Fort in 1843 and initiated the pony express between San Francisco and Sutter's Fort. He was also a member of the second rescue party for the Donner party. Stoddard had a brother Charles who lived in Hector, NY and had 15 children. He also had a brother David but there is no information available about him. You may be part of David's family, my g4 grandfather was Charles' 1791 contribution to the Cady family.
