How accurate is the census info? In some cases very much so, but in other cases almost useless. It depends on who gave the info and the how careful the enumertor was in taking the info. You will improve your chances of getting accurate info if you "view" the actual census rather than relying on a transcription as that adds another layer to the possibility of errors. But the census data is about the best tool there is in genealogy research even with all the errors. I've seen lots of death certificates and orbits that contain mistakes as well as marriage records that were far from accurate. Half the battle in using the census is being creative in doing your searches.
