I wanted to share my experience participating in the Caddell Family DNA Project.

I am a descendant of Franklin Hiram Cadwell of Pike County, Illinois. Franklin's father and mother were William Cadwell and Elizabeth McFarland. I believe that John Cadwell and Mary Keyes of Moore County, North Carolina might be William's parents, and that John Cadwell might be John Caddell, a son of James "Banks" Caddell.

I joined the Caddell Family DNA Project with hopes of confirming or ruling out a family connection to the North Carolina Caddells. Upon testing I found that I match the other project members on twelve of twelve markers. From this testing I know I share a common ancestor with the other participants. I believe this clearly establishes a relation between my Cadwell's and the Caddell's of Moore County, NC.

If you are a male descendant of the Pike County Cadwell's, or another Cadwell line that is curious about it's roots, I encourage you consider participating in this project. Cadwell isn't a very common name, and it's quite possible that we are part of the same Caddell/Cadwell family.
