Hi Elizabeth!

I guess we may be related! Marianne Frances Moss is my maternal grandmother's aunt! I seem to remember hearing something about a shipwreck but I will need to confirm this with other members of the family (some still in Australia).

I'm wondering if you can tell me more about your great grandfather and how he came to marry Marianne, and if you have any information on the Moss family. I know her father's name was George and her mother was Sarah Ann.

I received a copy of Marriane and George's wedding certificate from the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages but it is notably skimpy on information about their families. I get the impression from this that they may have eloped as the witnesses are listed as William Cadogan (a brother?) and a Miss Brown. No mention their parents, their professions, etc. And it mentioned they were married by a chaplain.

Anyway, I'd be most appreciative of any lore you may have about all the individuals involved and I'll ask about the shipwreck!

Best wishes,

Doug Thompson
