There are places to look for Jane's husband, but no guarantees.
The 1870 US census might help. You can get it on microfilm from a large public library or a Family History Center in an LDS church. In either case you pay a nominal fee, wait 3 - 6 weeks, and read it on their micro-film reader.
Ancestry.com has the census images on-line on a subscription basis. The 1870 isn't indexed on-line. If you go to a big enough public library, you may find a printed index.
The Indiana US Gen Web Site,

has a ton of useful information, plus a link to the Hamilton County site.
If you live close enough to go there, you might find something in the main branch of the Hamilton County Public Library. Many libraries have a room devoted to local history and genealogy.
Cyndi's List:
http://www.cyndislist.com/in.htmhttp://www.cyndislist.com/in.htm
has a huge sub-page devoted to Indiana.
I:

have a much smaller area devoted to hints and tips for beginning Internet genealogists.
I hope this helps.
