Hello Steve:
My CABLE line goes back to 1790 in Ross Township (north part of Pittsburgh), Allegheny Co., PA. Henry CABLE was born circa 1775 and was previously from Shenandoah Co., VA. I believe the surname was once CABELL. Popular given names were Henry, William, and John.
However, you may be descended from Edward CABLE from England. He arrived quite a bit later (1800s?) than mine and settled in Lawrenceville (also north of Pittsburgh), Allegheny Co., PA.You may want to write to the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh to ask them if Edward is written up in the Allegheny County History Book (I think he is.)
Edward had a son Andrew born about 1868. My great grandfather had a half brother also named Andrew that I found out later died at age 17. This threw me off for awhile when I found an Andrew on the census and it stated his father was born in England.
My mother was a CABLE and I knew about her grandfather. It took me a few years to find who his father was. Hopefully, this information will help you narrow down your research.
If you haven't already, I suggest you check the census records.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me privately.
