From "Heraldo de Apellidos Canarios", Tomo I, Page 87, by Lino Chaporro D'Acosta:

"CABALLERO:

(Escudo 140)."

BIBLIOGRAFIA:
"Nobiliaro Espanol", de Julio de Atenza, pag 271,
"Heraldica de los Apellidos Asturianos", de Francisco Sarandeses.
"El solar Vasco Navarro", de Garcia Carraffa, tomo III, pag 6.

Would like to know if anyone has data on a Bartolome Caballero who emigrated from Aguimes, Gran Canaria, to Louisiana in 1778 as a military recruit for the forces of Bernardo de Galvez. He was listed as aboard the San Juan Nepumoceno arriving New Orleans in January 1779. Have no subsequent record of his presence in Louisiana except for presence of several children that accompanied him and of the later remarriage of his wife.

Regards. LAElderLaw@aol.com (Fernando J. Estopinal III)
