Mrs Hudson was the daughter of the late Capt Christopher and Clarinda Mills and was born in ILL February 8, 1844. She came to California with her parents in 1856 via Mississippi river steamer to New Orleans, thence to the Isthmus of Panama, where the natives carried the children across the Isthmus on their backs thence via steamer to San Francisco.
The late Christopher Mills operated a river steamer service between San Francisco, Sacramento and Marysville and shortly after the family arrived in San Francisco they moved to Marysville. later coming to St Helena and residing at the old family home on the banks of Sulphur Creek, the present home of Christopher Mills.

I am busy researching the family and trying to extend the descendant line, as these two obits only came to me within the past 3 days (thanks Dave)
I cannot find Christopher Mills (sr) in the 1870 census, so do not know his death date am trying to locate that as well as his burial location.
Can somebody tell me where I would find the old newspapers for Marysville during that era .
Also if any one has info on this Capt Christopher Mills, I would be greatly appreciative.
