Ruth Hitchcock's paper on, "Brands of Tehama County, has sixty-five pages of brands. They are listed by sirname of owner or owners, dates of use and a drawing of each branding iron, is given. I looked at each page, but I could have missed it. Her only mention of "Broken Arrow" was that it was often used by indians. There is also a California State Brand Book. It is possible that the brand was registered in another county, such as Glenn, Shasta or Lassen as cattle were often sent to those mountainous counties for the summer.
