My Striplin ancestors arived in Sutter County in the fall of 1859, having crossed the praries by ox team from Montgomery County, Illinois. Brothers; James, Caswell and Samuel with their famalies, took farms next to their cousin, John R. Catlett south of the town of Nicolaus. Samuel Striplin removed to San Diego in 1868. Caswell died in July of that same year at his farm on Marcum Road (across from Nicolaus Cemetery)leaving seven children;
