...I'm just guessing, but here is what I would do. I would actually GO to the Stanislaus Recorder's office in Modesto and look at the physical records they hold. Who knows, you may find a clue. Years ago, there was an adoption in my family, and the San Francisco recorder "sealed" the record by covering it with blue paper, which I easily lifted to see the document. (But don't tell anyone . . .)
...I would also go to Merced and check the records there. If that fails, I would even consider trying the county seats at Stockton, Madera or Fresno.
...But it seems to me that your record is not one of the two we found on the Stanislaus County web site.
