says his last residence was Tracy, one county north of us, in San Joaquin County.
I looked through the Modesto Bee from 1 May to 7 May 1995 without finding an obit. If I was guessing I'd say there was a reasonable chance he lived in Tracy but was in a hospital/rest home in Modesto when he died.
You could try a post on the San Joaquin board, but it is not as active as this one.
