Actually, I just found another obituary in the Modesto Bee (19 July 2000):
"Courtney Lassiter Babb, 88, of Denair died Sunday at Brandel Manor convalescent hospital.
Mr. Babb was a native of Texas. He lived in Denair for 87 years. He was a rancher for 45 years. He was a member of Gateway Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Babb of Denair; children, Colleen McGill of Modesto and Clara Ratliff of California City; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson, in charge of arrangements."
