Modesto Bee, p. B-3
Sunday, August 20, 1995

Harry L. Nesbitt, 69, of Escalon died Thursday at Oak Valley Hospital, Oakdale.

Mr. Nesbit was a native of Stockton. He lived in Escalon eight years. He was a newspaper machinist. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Nesbitt of Escalon; children Tom Gerberg and Karen Nesbitt, both of Escalon, and Gary Nesbitt of Vacaville [Solano County]; mother, Vida Nesbitt of Oakdale; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be conducted at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Deegan Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Specific Note: It says “children”, not “step-children”. It doesn’t give a clue as to why Tom Gerberg’s surname isn’t Nesbitt. My transcription is accurate, but the obit may be wrong. Escalon is in San Joaquin County, close to the southern border of the county. People in Escalon (pop 20,000) routinely go into Modesto (pop 200,000), in Stanislaus County, for back-to-school shopping, fancy restaurants and other “big city” attractions.

Notes I put on all of these, if I remember:

Deegen FC is still in business. They are in Escalon. You could look them up in an on-line phone book and write or call. They may have more information.

I will send you the microfilm print-out if you send me your address privately.

I do these to repay a small regiment of people who have helped me. If you have the inclination and ability, you can repay the favor by looking up an obituary for someone who posted a request on the GenForum page for your county.
