Services Are Held For Mrs. Gotobed
TURLOCK, March 29.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Marie Gotobed, 57, member of a prominent Turlock family who died in a local hospital Wednesday following a brief illness, were held at the J. W. Guy Funeral Chapel this morning.
A native of Red Oak, Iowa, she lived in Iowa until coming to Turlock thirty two years ago. She had lived here from then until the time of her death.
She leaves her husband, Joseph C. Gotobed; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Grace Bennett of Modesto and Miss Edna Evelyn Gotobed of Turlock; one son, George F. Gotobed of Turlock; two brothers. G. A. Johnson of Longmount, Col., and Luther M. Johnson of Turlock; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie M. Farrell of Turlock, Mrs. Nora E. Rapp of Hughson and Mrs. Ethel Smith of Bellingham, Wash., and four grandchildren.
She was a member of the Methodist Church here.
Rev. H. H. Allen, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated at the rites, which were followed by interment in the Turlock Cemetery.

Joseph Gotobed, 71 Passes Away
TURLOCK Dec. 18. - Funeral services for J. C. Gotobed, Turlock livestock man, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Norton Mortuary.
Gotobed died yesterday morning in a local hospital following a short illness He was a native of Milan, Ill.
He lived thee until he was 18 years of age, when he moved to Red Oak, Ia. He came to Turlock in 1908.
He was the owner and operator of a meat market, which he sold in 1926. Since then he has been affiliated with Robert Hill In the livestock business.
He leaves a son, George S. Gotobed; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Bennett and Mrs. Evelyn Frodelius, all of Turlock; four grandchildren, James Bennett of Ceres; Mrs. Patricia Watts and Richard and Sidney Gotobed, all of Turlock and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Gotobed, in 1940.
Gotobed was a member of the First Methodist Church, past master of Turlock Lodge, No. 395, FAM; members Scottish Rite Scottish Rite body of San Jose, Oakland Aahmes Temple, Shrine*; past president of Turlock Sportsmens Club and a member of Turlock Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
Interment will be in the Turlock Cemetery under the auspices of the Turlock Lodge No. 395, FAM.

Notes:
* I don't know what "members Scottish Rite Scottish Rite body of San Jose, Oakland Aahmes Temple, Shrine" means; it looks like he was a Shriner. The paper may have mangled the title. That's what is printed. A Mason may be able to tell you. San Jose and Oakland are 40 miles apart. Shriners are some kind of Mason, anyway.
