Aug. 1 1904 - Nov. 16, 1993

Lilla Fannie Clinton, 89, of Delhi died Tuesday at Modesto Convalescent Hospital. Mrs. Clinton was a native of Comanche, Texas. She lived in Delhi 44 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Delhi.

She is survived by her children, Aaron Clinton Jr. of Riverbank, Henry Clinton of Grants Pass, Ore., Alvin Clinton, Jerry Clinton and Janet Worsham, all of Delhi, and Mary Lively of Turlock; a brother, George Smith of Modesto; and 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Allen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8 am. to 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

Things I wrote on Aaron's obit and include here JUST in case someone else reads this but not his:

Modesto is the county seat and largest city in Stanislaus County. Merced is the largest city and county seat of Merced County.

The town of Delhi - which the natives pronounce "Dell-hi", not "Del-ee" - is in Merced County. Most of its residents go into Stanislaus County for their major shopping and to find a restaurant suitable for the wife's birthday. I suspect 60% of them take the Modesto Bee and the other 40% the Merced Sun Star. Aaron may have had a bigger write-up in the Merced paper. You might post a second request on the Merced County GenForum. If you do, be sure to mention the obit you have from the Bee, so that the Merced County volunteer doesn't duplicate my effort.
