Hi Ted, thanks for the good gouge as the Marines would say.
Ida's birth place is wrong but it's great you found them. She is listed in IOWA Cass Co. under her parents with her brother Charlie and another sibling Clara who was born 1856. Clara did not make it past age 4. She died before leaving for CA. Charlie was born 1857 and Ida was born 1859 all in IOWA before the family took an ox and a cart across to the west in 1860. They had 3 other children in California.
I descend from Charlie.
Does it say who CH Hining is? I wonder if that is Meridas father who is the minister?? Seems likely. Do you know how I could find Ida and Merida anywhere else? They seem to have dropped off the earth after then?
Thank goodness for people like Mrs.Dix....we need her and others. There is so much info out there. A friend of mine just transcribed a census and loved it even though it was hard work. I am considering doind one myself. To see if I want to do more, haha.
