Henry Gilfert Dies Suddenly
Mr. Henry E. Gilfert, 53, died suddenly at his home, 373 Springs Road, Tuesday morning, March 21, 1950 at 7:30. For the past 16 years he had been teaching at Vallejo College in the Machine Shop and he also taught adult education evening classes.
Mr. Gilfert was a graduate of Pacific Grove High School, which he finished in 1913. Later he attended Columbia University, the University of California and San Jose State College. He was born January 2, 1896, in Tamaqua, Penn.
After being employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard during World War I, he started his teaching career at Chico high school in 1922.
He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Ivy; a son, Jack, of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Mrs. Helen Hendrickson, of Los Angeles; mother, Mrs. Annie Gilfert, of Salinas; and sister, Mrs. Dorothy MaAnaney, of Salinas.
Funeral services were held last Saturday.
