I have a copy of the California Death Index. Due to the age of my copy, it is very difficult to read. It appears though that there was a George Diehl that died in Napa County (Vallejo is just south of Napa County) at the age of 76. The death date is either 1/31/1919 or 3/31/1919. This seems to match the age of your George Diehl (I looked him up in the 1900 Census in Pennsylvania to find his age).

I sometimes take tombstone pictures in the Vallejo/Napa area. I'll keep George Diehl in mind, and if I find his grave, I'll definitely send you a picture.
