I have the California Death Index on microfilm. It is a very worn copy, but on it is listed a John Fritts, age 85, that died on April 12, 1909 (State File #6884). The county code is very difficult to read, but the number looks like either 11 (Glenn County) or 12 (Humboldt County). Since Humboldt County borders both Del Norte and Siskiyou County, I'd try looking in Humboldt first.

I did not find John's children in the death index, nor could I find his second wife, Julia.

I'm of no relation- just thought I'd try to help. Good luck in your search!
