Hi good luck on your search. I lived in Santa Cruz Co for years. No county record on line yet. Santa Cruz County seat is located in City of Santa Cruz. The County has a very active Genealogy Society - write them they may be of help - Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz Co. PO Box 72 Santa Cruz, Ca 95963. The Society owns a "large" collection of material and is active in the research and history of this county & have published some book on the county, 2 I have are Cemetery Records of Santa Cruz Co & Santa Cruz County Births and Deaths 1856 - 1900, from early newspapers. I checked both of these but did not find the name "Jenks", you should also look for other names related to this family, might find a clue. Good luck.
