will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
The California Death index shows a Theresa C. Smith as born on June 15, 1896 in Indiana. She died on June 18, 1972 in Santa cruz, Santa Cruz Co., CA Her social security # is given as: 555-10-7003. When I went to the Social Security Death Index at Ancestry.com and typed in that number I came up with: James Smith, born Nov. 14, 1887 died in Sept 1967 in Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co., CA. It would appear that this is probably the aunt and uncle you are looking for and her SS benefits were paid under her husband's name. You could send to Santa Cruz County for their death certificates and it should show where they are buried. Hopefully it would show their parents names, too. You could also send to Maryland for the application that James filled out when he applied for SS. That would give the exact place of birth (county, city, state) and give his parent's names (including mother's maiden name). It costs $7 for a copy of the application. You can generate a letter at Ancestry.com that you can mail to receive this info. If you need further help in locating this would be glad to help. Hope this helps in your search.
