i am in need of help searching for info on the chard family of santa clara county. william chard, originally of new york, made his was to santa clara county via new mexico, by 1832 he made it to california first staying in los angeles and moving up to monterey and then up to santa clara and ending in tehama county. there were several children of william with his wife maria robles (mary oaks). i am trying to find info on the descendants and ancestors of william and maria. william might have had a brother that stayed in new york columbia county new york is a place of interest in this field of research.
